Anyone had complications after laser eye correction?

I’m a bit worried – I had laser eye correction just over 4 weeks ago, and this past week my sight has deteriorated. I went for a check up yesterday, and my sight’s so bad for driving they’re sending me a pair of glasses! I mean, this defeats the whole purpose of having it done! This on top of losing my near vision (which was perfect – I was just very short sighted), so now I’ll need glasses for distance AND glasses for reading! I wore contact lenses before, so now I’m actually worse off! The clinic have told me that it’s only temporary, and to go back in a month, but I’m very worried that I’ve made a huge mistake. Has anyone had a similar experience?
PS I went to what is supposedly the top clinic for this treatment!

I know somebody who wound up as a registered blind person after Laser Eye Correction, she only needed glasses before the operation, you wouldn’t get me sitting there while somebody fired lasers into my eyes I can tell you that.

Is vision-correction eye laser surgery safe? Long term effects? Cost?

Looking for answers from people who’ve undergone the procedure or from trained medical specialists.

It is safe but the most common side effect is dry eyes.

Eye Laser Correction – is it Really that Easy and Safe!?

Hi,
can someone please share from their own experince going through this treatment?
is it really that simple and safe to get rid of glasses? any common side effects to the treatment? any risk? (My eyes are light (green))

I haven’t had it myself, but I have known two people who have and I’ve sat through the process. They now both have greater than 20/20 vision and no other problems. However, the procedure looks and sounds pretty gruesome from watching (the recipients said it wasn’t bad at all.)

First they measure your eye in every conceivable way, and give you an anti-biotic to take before the procedure to prefect infection.

Then they will give you something to calm you down and keep you from jumping too much (i.e. Valium) and some numbing eye drops. They will then use a suction ring to hold your eye still, and use a microkeratome, which is basically a razor on tracks to slice a thin layer off the top of your eye (unless you are having IntraLasik, which uses a laser to slice it instead.) Then they lift the flap and use a laser to trim and reshape your corneal stroma.

After they finish, the surgeon replaces the flap and checks for any air bubbles or debris under the flap. The flap is left in place by the natural suction and adherence caused by the fluids in your eye. Afterwords they may give you special eye drops and eye covers to wear while you sleep.

Overall, it is very very safe and fairly easy compared to other surgeries.

Yes, as long as you meet the required eye sight test you will be accepted.
