Would like to hear from people who’ve experienced it… have knowledge about it the pro’s and con’s. Are you satisfied with your vision after surgery?

I paid about $4500 5 years ago and had it done at a place called Adelaide Eye Laser centre. I can’t remember the exact name of the procedure, but it was where they cut a thin flap of the cornea, folded it back and then laser corrected the surface of the eye, then put the flap back in place. I went from around -4.0 diopters in both eyes and slight astigmatism, to 20/20 vision. When driving at night with bright car headlights at a distant if I concentrate on it I notice a very slight halo around the lights, which is one of the listed downsides but don’t notice it generally, and compared to the vision I use to have I would quite happily pay double for the procedure.

Like any surgical procedure there are risks, but if like myself you follow all of their recommendations to the letter before and after the procedure, you will be fine. Some people get one eye done at a time just in case, I took the plunge and got both eyes done at the same time and have never looked back.

Do your research, when visiting a place check out their website, don’t just rely on patient testimonials, the place I went to was one of the more expensive, but the Dr who done my procedure was one of the guys who had helped develop the procedure in Australia and had written multiple medical papers on the subject.
